“quails & poppies from the valley” is a seven-song solo piano ep written and recorded by yours truly from the 22nd of february 2023 through the first week of march. while the guitar is the first instrument i picked up, piano/keyboards/mallet instruments helped me propel myself into the “music machine” (as my old music instructors called me) that i am today. three of these songs (tracks 1, 4, and 5) i wrote in high school, and four of these (tracks 2, 3, 6, and 7) i recently transposed from guitar, i felt like the voice of piano suited them well. i’ve been aching to record piano music for a long time but never pushed myself to do it. self-reflection, solitude, and the current weather was the incentive i needed to finally make it happen.

some thanks are in order: thank you dillon and stephen (my bandmates from inthebackground) for preparing the recording sessions for me. and thank you luis (frontman of the band fear the gray and a project titled just tired) for mixing and mastering. and many thanks to everyone that has supported and encouraged me to stay strong during my current health situation. there have been days when i’ve been so sad. you all were there to bring light, shelter, and direction back into my life to make sure i don’t dwell in the shadows. thank you so much.
